Bean bags, shade and sea views near the Sea Caves in Peyia – our visit, prices, getting there from Coral Bay and tips

← All things to do around Coral Bay

Olive Tree Beach is one of those places where you stop for a quick coffee and end up staying an hour. Tables, cushions and small day beds sit under old olive trees, the sea sparkles in front of you, and below the cliff there is a small rocky cove with clear water. The spot belongs to the Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort in Peyia (Pegeia), only around 12 minutes by car from Coral Bay. We visited on 24 October 2026 – here is what to expect.

What Is Olive Tree Beach in Paphos?

Olive Tree Beach is not a classic sandy beach with long rows of sunbeds. It is an olive grove on top of the rocky coastline of Pegeia, on the grounds of the Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort, looking out over the sea and the small rocky islets offshore. The name comes from the gnarled old olive trees that give plenty of shade. The local page This Is Peyia sums it up nicely: “Olive Tree Beach is a charming, lesser-known spot”, and “the beach is named after the beautiful olive trees”.

The hotel itself describes Olive Tree Beach as a place for “pure relaxation”, with shaded sunbeds and oversized parasols, and labels the area a “Quiet Zone” on its website. That matches how it felt to us: lots of shade between the olive trees, a relaxed atmosphere and great views along the coast towards the Sea Caves. On Instagram and TikTok you will find plenty of photos under the hashtag olivetreebeach, and in reviews the phrase “hidden gem” comes up again and again – a little secret on the coast of Paphos, Cyprus.

Our Visit to Olive Tree Beach

From the car park, a pale path leads between white walls and tall cypress trees towards the sea. After a few minutes you reach a Cap St Georges signpost: left to the hotel and toilets, straight on to the Sea Caves and right to Olive Tree Beach. We turned right – and shortly afterwards we were standing in the middle of the olive grove.

Under the trees there are tables with green and white chairs and large parasols in between. Further forward, right above the sea, big grey bean bags lie on the sand, together with cushions and small day beds. This Is Peyia speaks of a “serene atmosphere” – and that fits: even on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the end of October it was pleasant and peaceful in the shade of the olive trees.

Beach Bar, Coffee Van and Prices at Olive Tree Beach

The heart of the place is a small wooden beach bar – more of a little café under the trees – built right between the olive trees, with a counter and a cake display. Next to it stands a converted three-wheeled Ape van that serves as a drinks cart – a real photo spot. We had an iced coffee and a hot latte, €6 each. That is hotel level, but perfectly fine for the location and the view: a bit of luxury for the price of a coffee.

With our coffees we sat down on the bean bags at the front, right at the edge. From here you get a clear view over the blue water, the flat rocks and the islets off the coast. We did not ask whether there is a charge for the sunbeds, bean bags or day beds – best to check at the bar.

Tip from Kimmy & ChristianDon’t settle at the first table – walk all the way to the bean bags at the front. That is where the views are best, and with a coffee in hand the time flies.

Rocky Cove, Clear Waters and Coastal Views

Below the olive grove, a narrow path leads over pale limestone rocks down to a small cove. The water is crystal-clear, from turquoise to deep blue, and a few people were swimming during our visit. Don’t expect a sandy beach with lifeguards: it is a natural rocky cove, so watch out for waves and slippery stones, and water shoes are a good idea. On calm days the cove is ideal for a quick swim before the next coffee.

A travel post on Facebook praises its “natural beauty” and “clear waters”, calls it “a peaceful spot” and says the views are stunning “especially at sunset”. The coast here faces west, so if you stay into the evening you can watch the sun set over the sea – a lovely end to a day on the Pafos coast. Even in the afternoon the light on the water is impressive, as our photo shows.

From the olive grove you can walk along the coast to the Sea Caves – the signpost points straight on. There you will find sea caves, rock arches and the stranded cargo ship Edro III. Everything about it is in our guide to the Sea Caves and the Edro III Shipwreck.
