Paphos Airport (PFO) at a Glance

Paphos International Airport (IATA code PFO) is the second-largest airport in Cyprus after Larnaca. It is run by Hermes Airports, and the current terminal opened in November 2008. In 2025 it handled around 3.8 million passengers. The terminal is compact, with 28 check-in desks and seven gates, plus restaurants, cafés, a duty-free shop and a tourist information desk.

From the UK, easyJet, Jet2, TUI Airways, Ryanair and British Airways all fly to Paphos. The airport lies south-east of Paphos town: the town centre is about 10 kilometres away, the harbour about 12 kilometres – both around 20 minutes by car. You can book flight and accommodation as a package or separately – how the two compare is covered in Cyprus All Inclusive or a Private Villa?.

Check the waiting time and cancellation terms of the transfer operator before you book – a minibus or van is usually available for larger groups. Transfer or taxi? A taxi is fine for spontaneous trips; a booked transfer is the more reliable option late at night.

Car Hire at Paphos Airport

What you should know

  • Driving on the left: Cyprus drives on the left, and the steering wheel is on the right.
  • Driving licence: A UK or EU licence is fine for most rental companies; check the requirements with your provider before you book.
  • Dirt tracks: For trips into the Akamas (for example to Lara Bay), check whether your rental agreement allows unpaved roads.
  • Parking at the villa: Each villa has a free parking space on the property, and there is free parking on the street.
